Warrior Run Campus

How have past grants become reality for students and teachers?

DID YOU KNOW? The Mission of the WRCEF is to support the Warrior Run School District in ways that create more opportunities for WR students, educators and the district to soar. Thank you to donors who are helping the Foundation meet that challenge! If you have not done so, consider giving a year-end gift to help fulfill needs.

Past Grants Are Paying Off

Teacher Mr. Jack Galer, a grant recipient in the past, is now utilizing 5 new cardiopulmonary resuscitation manikins in his high school classes. In practice, these CPR models reflect back to the student the amount of pressure being used (or lack of) by visibly simulating blood flow to the brain. After much practice, the students begin a CPR group video assignment where each group member has a task — “doer”, speaker, writer, or leader/recorder. Serious attention and goodhearted practice — “Press harder. Pretend it’s your brother!”

Kristen Barr

First grade teacher Kristin Barr enthusiastically proclaims that her handy science cart on wheels is one of her most loved pieces of equipment in her classroom. Her past grant for STEM equipment included her request for this movable cart. This year a grant award for Barr and colleague Jodie Danowsky will take them to the National Science Teachers Association Conference to enrich their own professional development and to share with other WR science teachers.

An ELEMENTARY ROCK GARDEN was the hope of the 5 kindergarten teachers through the application of Kasey Uppling, past grant recipient. This month the now-first graders placed their K rock paintings into the rock garden. Prepared by the father of teacher Taylor Stahley, pictured together here, this space will continue to be a beautiful addition to the entrance near the elementary school as the K art project continues.

The Foundation is eager for the Elementary Collaborative K-6 Mural approved earlier to be installed. Art teacher and grant recipient Brett Morgan is spearheading the creation of art on 8" x 8" canvasses by students from every grade level. Soon these creations representing a variety of art techniques will combine to create a decorative and inspiring K-6 mural inside the elementary school. Stay tuned! Examples above.

These above are a few of the many successful Innovation Grants awarded in the last 10 years. We thank those with a heart for Warrior Run who have made these possible.
